9 creative date night
ideas
1. My husband and I LOVE to have ‘secret’ dates. One plans dinner and
the other plans an activity. Rules are that you CAN’T tell the other person
what you are doing but just what they need to be wearing. One night we were NOT
on the same page and I chose a food truck and he chose a night at the Opera! Haha.
2. This is really silly, but we
are broke a lot of the time because we are saving up for a house. My favorite
thing to do is to go with my hubby to Ikea and plan out how we are going to decorate our house and we usually
grab a quick treat from the restaurant there. It’s a lot like 500 Days of
Summer. Even if you don’t have an Ikea around, it’s so much fun just to go
window shopping together.
3. I’ve been married to my high school
sweet heart for six years and we have two little ones. One of my favorite date
ideas comes from the idea of the 5 love languages. If your love languages are
different you can take turns centering a date around each other. Here are some
examples. If his love language is Physical Touch, you can give each other
massages. If it’s Acts of Service, cook him his favorite dish. Maybe his love language is Words of Affirmation. When you go out on a date you
could give him a card or letter letting him know how much he means to you and
how much you appreciate him.
4. Make dinner at home and spend the night dream-building…talking
about things like trips, your home, and blessing others!
5. Our favorite date night is to do a “junk night.” Most of the time, all the
food we eat is from scratch and we’re busy reading and living and all that. Once
in a while, though, we just buy junk food or frozen Chinese food or something
and watch silly movies and play games.
6. My favorite kind of dates are spur-of-the-moment ones where by
husband will just walk up to me and say, “Get dressed. We’re going out and it’s
a surprise!” Those are always the best and most romantic!
7. It’s not a specific date idea, but
a continuous string of fun date ideas!
Each spouse takes turns planning a secret date night as often as the couple
decides {one per month, once every other month, whatever floats your boat!} and
completely surprises their husband/wife! It can be something as simple as
dinner and a movie or something as extravagant as an off-Broadway show or a
major sporting event! – Anonymous
8. Build a fort in the living room and
watch a movie together or read a children’s book inside! –
9. I told my fiance I am planning “Date Day”…We are going to a local
museum that has free entry on Mondays, then lunch at a lovely (and very
expensive) French Bistro that we have been drooling over for a long time and
then an early afternoon movie. What’s so interesting about this date
idea!? Well – its very friendly on my wallet!! Doing an afternoon
movie, finding free admission and doing lunch instead of dinner helps cut costs
without losing the experience. I also love the idea of surprising your man with
a fun day or night on the town!! It’s fun to change things up!!
